The Genesis
December 1st 2024 , here it all starts. the roadmap to what’s to come will be shared down below. But before I get to the technicalities, What’s the motive of this blog? well , it’s Simple, to provide an unfiltered and candid look into the life of a Cybersecurity student. The year that follows starting today, up till Dec 1st, 2025 will mark a year in Cybersecurity, where learning It and it’s subsidiaries will have my unparalleled attention and focus. What I believe is unique about this experience is how it’s very natural for a Cybersecurity Student to feel lost in their pursuit of this Massive Discipline with it’s numerous serpentine branches and how this Blog will help in giving a perspective on what a real journey looks like.
I’ve planned on writing for this blog twice a week , with one entry being a life update (Tagged by #Journal ) and the latter being a Progress report of my Cybersecurity Study (Tagged by #CyberStudy). The life update will have general insights about how everything’s going in my life while the Progress report will contain:
- Notes
- Techniques
- Resources I’ve dug up from the internet
- Insights on what works and what doesn’t
Now onto the Roadmap I’ve designed it in 3 levels
- level 1
- https://www.tryhackme.com Learning pathway
- SOC Path
- Pentester Path
- Security Engineer
- Level 2
- Projects Start in this level
- HTB like sites with CTF’s and Challenges
- Free Certifications
- Revision on level 1
- Level 3
- Vulnerable Machines
- Writeups
- Projects
The above level descriptions are a General overview of each level and should be considered just the tip of the Iceberg. Following is the Canvas View of the Roadmap: ! On level 2 and 3 , I’ll start making projects for my Portfolio which will be hosted on GitHub and shared in the respective #CyberStudy blog of that week. I’ll also upload all the functionalities of the projects and how I solved the problems and hurdles that came along the way while creating them.
Moreover I’ll be using https://www.obsidian.md for note taking which I have been using for the last 3 years. The canvas housing the Roadmap was also created in my Vault in Obsidian itself. The notes I’ll make will be available to you in this blog free of cost. Notice that the Canvas is only showing the Skeleton , it’s because they are sites and resources I’ll be following, Its a top down view ( zoomed out ) of the canvas that’s why it’s not visible fully, I’ll slowly reveal each level as I’m going through it. Sharing this over the top view also makes it easier for me to be fluid and add or remove things as I learn more and get better perspective without overcommitting on things that don’t matter.
Moving onto the reasons for staring this blog
- The need for an Accountability Partner
- The need to Document my journey
Writing to you twice a week will help in being on track and accountable, while the reason for documenting is more personal and close to heart because it’ll help in momentum building which may break when life happens or sometimes when I feel like quitting, this blog will act like my cookie jar ( Can’t hurt me : David Goggins). I’ll look back on these Achievements and push forward.
Now that all that is out of the way, somethings about me ; I’m a Cybersecurity Student from Pakistan. Studying in the Capital.
Lastly, if I don’t write here for more then 2 weeks ,it’s because something bad has happened, in case of such an incident I’ve automatically set my vault to be posted as a Google Drive link to the final entry of this blog .
